Rumor: Islanders make a huge trade offer to the Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets continue to wait on the status on Dustin Byfuglien. Meanwhile, teams across the league are gauging their interest level in defensemen, and doing their part to take advantage of the teams current vulnerability. The New York Islanders want to make a deal.

According to sources connected to the Winnipeg Jets management team, they have received an interesting trade offer from the New York Islanders. The Islanders are solely focused on forward, Nik Ehlers and his blazing speed. The Islanders offer includes former first round pick, RHD Ryan Pulock and disgruntled prospect Josh Ho-Sang, who recently demanded a trade. A 2nd round pick would also be going to Winnipeg.

The deal would allow the Jets to add a capable defenseman to their right side for the foreseeable future, while adding another offensive prospect in Ho-Sang, who could pan out in a new atmosphere.

The Islanders would be adding Ehlers in hopes of parlaying his game-changing speed with that of Matthew Barzal.

This type of deal would have a major impact on both teams, this year, and down the road.

Will the Jets pull the trigger? Time will tell, what we do know, the Islanders are trying to make a huge splash early this season.
