Costly Move: The Islanders have waived Andrew Ladd

Andrew Ladd has been informed by the New York Islanders he is being waived with the purpose of being reassigned to Bridgeport of the AHL. Ladd was on the only player on waivers today, as names get announced at noon.

The move is surprising considering Ladd has three and half years left on his contract which carries a $5.5 million AAV. Islanders GM, Lou Lamoriello mentioned the team did not see enough from Ladd in his 5 game conditioning stint as Ladd recovers from a knee injury.

Ladd had only goal in 5 games during his conditioning stint, and the 33-year-old veteran hasn't played a full season since 2012.

Look for the Islanders to test the trade market for their next move with Andrew Ladd,
