Blackhawks' Brent Seabrook is done for the year

When Brent Seabrook starting being a healthy scratch, there was a ton of chatter surrounding his future in Chicago, and wouldn't you know it, now he's heading for season ending surgery.

The veteran defenceman is getting surgery on his shoulder today and the 34-year-old will also head for surgery on his hip in January and his left hip in February. He is under contract through the 2023-24 season at an average annual value of $6,875,000.

With Seabrook and Calvin de Haan also heading for season ending surgery, the Blackhawks freed up a significant chunk of cap space under the salary cap with these two heading for LTIR.

Look for Brent Seabrook to possibly get bought out in the offseason, as the Hawks are looking to re-tool on the fly. They have also approached Duncan Keith and asked if he wanted to stay or go, and he's yet to decide on his future in Chicago.

Changes are blowing through the windy city.
