Rumour: Chandler Stephenson to Vegas Golden Knights

As we approach the 30-game mark in the NHL season, teams can no longer use the "it's still early" excuse to explain their team's performance. With that in mind, it appears Vegas is looking to acquire some forward help from Washington.
David Pagnotta of TheFourthPeriod reported earlier today that Washington and Vegas had a trade in place which would send Chandler Stephenson to the Golden Knights. Recently, Darren Dreger has come out and said that the two teams are simply discussing a possible trade, and that nothing is set in stone just yet.

It would be interesting to see what the Capitals would receive in return for Stephenson, considering that both teams have near-zero cap space. Stephenson carries a modest cap hit of 1.05 million dollars, but would still be very difficult to fit into the Golden Knights lineup without sending down Cody Glass or Nicholas Hague, for example.

We will continue to update you as new details arise.
