NHLTR: Calgary Flames send 1-for-1 trade offer to Toronto Maple Leafs

The Calgary Flames are in desperate need of some scoring punch up front, while, the Toronto Maple Leafs continue to work the phones trying to acquire a defenceman. The Flames are deep on their back-end and the Leafs have the forward depth needed to facilitate a trade, and these two teams have been in touch this week regarding a deal.

The Flames are open to moving pending UFA's Travis Hamonic or TJ Brodie to the Leafs, if it means they receive forward, Andreas Johnsson in return. The Leafs however, are reluctant to trade Johnsson as he is under contract the next 3 seasons at a respectable $3.4 million.

The two teams have held discussions in the past, as this latest offseason the Leafs had a deal done, Nazem Kadri for TJ Brodie and Kadri axed the deal, using his trade protection.

If the Maple Leafs can sign either of Hamonic or Brodie to an extension as part of the negotiations, look for this deal to go down.

These two teams play each other on Thursday, so the trade chatter is going to amp up as the GM's will be spending some time together over the next 48 hours.
