Predators Fires Head Coach Peter Laviolette

On December 28th, 2019, we reported that Peter Laviolette's days in Nashville were numbered. Just minutes ago, GM David Poile has fired Laviolette as head coach of the Nashville Predators. Associate coach Kevin McCarthy has also been relieved of his coaching duties. There is much speculation on who will replace Laviolette as the team's bench boss.

Laviolette has had a fantastic run with the Predators, highlighted by his 2017 Stanley Cup Final appearance. However, the Predators have been less than satisfactory this season which has resulted in the inevitable release of their coach.

A replacement has not been confirmed at this time, but there is much speculation. Could Mike Babcock make an earlier than expected comeback to the NHL and turn the ship around in Nashville?
