NHL Trade Rumors: Kings Make Trade Offer for Dylan Larkin
Dylan Larkin will be on the move this summer, and if the Los Angeles Kings had it their way, he'll become the perfect replacement for Anze Kopitar.
Larkin's fed up with Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings management group, and has decided to ask out. Early on, teams were announced as preferred destinations, and they include the Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, Florida Panthers, and Tampa Bay Lightning. The Kings are on the 'second tier' list of teams that could convince Larkin to open up his horizon.
Larkin, 29, is signed through the 2031 season at $8.7 million AAV, and posted 34 goals and 67 points in 74 games last season. The Kings are interested and have been rumored to have made a trade offer involving Quinton Byfield, 2026 first-round pick, and former first-round pick Henry Brzustewicz.
Don't be surprised to see Yzerman holding out for Brandt Clarke, but at the end of the day, the Kings aren't expected to include Clarke in any trade offers this summer.
Frank Seravalli: Re Kings: They're probably gonna be pretty aggressive this offseason; they're looking to try and land their replacement for Anze Kopitar, I'm sure they'd...love to get in the mix for Dylan Larkin - Canucks Central (6/8)
The Kings have a major hole to fill down the middle of their ice, so if they miss out on Larkin, don't be surprised to see them go hard after Robert Thomas, Auston Matthews, and Mat Barzal.
The Red Wings want to clean up their mess as soon as possible. Yzerman and company are fielding trade offers each day, and many believe their goal is to have Larkin moved by the NHL Draft in less than two weeks. This way they can have their major move sorted before entering free agency, and ensure playing in Detroit is still considered an attractive destination for top players.
Has the Yzerplan failed? Appears so.
