Rumor: Maple Leafs to Sign KHL All-Star Goaltender Timur Bilyalov

Ak Bars of the KHL are having a fantastic season with great thanks to their star goaltender, Timur Bilyalov. He was never drafted to the NHL, but 24 year old has been the subject of international attention with his unbelievable stats this season. He not only has 8 shutouts in 22 games played, but he boasts a SV% of 0.952 and 1.20 GAA. This will not only solve the Maple Leafs' goalie issues, but will also provide security for their future.

Bilyalov broke a KHL record in November when he failed to surrender a single goal for 316 minutes and 9 seconds. Despite not being drafted to the NHL, he is said to be the most talented player in the world who is not yet affiliated with an NHL club. It was previously reported that he will make a decision by March, but talks between his agent and the Maple Leafs have heated up.
"As for his desire to play in the NHL, it's a dream for him as it is for any other player. If opportunity presented itself, he would certainly give it a shot. He's been asked the question so many times, but he never seems to believe that it's actually possible.                         - Aivis Kalnins "KHL" Reporter
Elliotte Friedman's latest addition of 31 Thoughts has pointed to this as well. There have been many trade rumors involving the Maple Leafs and Rangers in regards to Alexandar Georgiev, but this signing would automatically negate the need for the Leafs to pursue him any further.
