Rumor: New Jersey receives interesting offer from the Islanders

The New York Islanders find themselves in the thick of the playoff race, which may come as a bit of a surprise considering their lack of offense. It appears the team is turning to some division rivals for help.

According to sources connected to Devils management, the Islanders have reached out asking about what it's going to take to acquire RHD Sami Vatanen and gritty forward Wayne Simmonds. The Isles could use the net front presence of Simmonds and Vatanen brings an element of offense from the back-end, which the Islanders so desperately lack. The Islanders are willing to include disgruntled prospect, Josh Ho-Sang and RHD prospect Bode Wilde along with a mid-round pick in the deal.

The Isles currently sit with 115 goals on the season, which is near the bottom of the league. Amazing they have the points they do, considering, but a lot of their success comes down to their system and head coach, Barry Trotz.

More to come, as it comes.
