Seattle Expected to Announce Team Name at NHL All-Star Game

It was reported back in November by Chris Johnston of Sportsnet that the ownership group in Seattle are going to announce the new name of the NHL's 32nd franchise during All-Star weekend at the end of this month.

Many fans in Seattle were hoping for the team to choose Metropolitans, as a homage to the 1917 Stanley Cup Champion Seattle Metropolitans. Gary Bettman stated that it is unlikely that the team will be called the Metropolitans because of the league having a division named the Metropolitan. Team CEO Tod Leiweke said earlier last year that the ownership group had registered 13 possible names in hopes of reaching the best decision possible.
