Huge Rumor: Maple Leafs made a run at Drew Doughty

The Toronto Maple Leafs have completed a small deal today but according to a source at MLSE, the Leafs continue to test the waters in LA for a big fish.

The team is rumored to have made a call this morning to Rob Blake to see if at all, Drew Doughty would be available for the right price.

Kyle Dubas continues to work the phones on Tyson Barrie, and it's believed the team is looking for picks and/or prospects in a Barrie deal so they can parlay this return, along with William Nylander and Travis Dermott and ship off a mega-package to LA for Doughty.

Doughty, would have to approve the deal, but as this deal would bring him closer to home and on a potential playoff bound team, it's likely he would agree.

Lots can happen in a short period of time, so we shall see if Dubas can make the catch.

UPDATE: the deadline has passed, look for these talks to start up again around the Draft in June.
