Ilya Kovalchuk Trolls Crowd In New Jersey

Ilya Kovalchuk was once a fan favourite during his time with the New Jersey Devils. That was until he abruptly retired from the NHL in 2013 at the age of 30. The remaining 12 years remaining on his contract was terminated as he moved back to Russia. Since his NHL return, Devils fans have booed Kovalchuk every time he has played in their barn and tonight was no different. However, Kovalchuk gets the best revenge and trolls the crowd as he scores the winning goal in the shoot-out.

The Devils pushed back against the Montreal Canadiens and scored the tying goal with less than a minute remaining in regulation. The game finished in a shoot-out in which Kovalchuk scored the winning goal. The crowd was booing as he skated up the ice and quickly became silent when he scored a beautiful goal. He then shushed the crowd in Mike Ribeiro like fashion.
