NHLTR: Avalanche Pursuing Kyle Connor

The Winnipeg Jets have been searching for help on their defense all season thanks to the departures of Jacob Trouba and Dustin Byfuglien. It appears that the Colorado Avalanche have held discussions with the Jets about a potential blockbuster of a deal.

Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press cites a "well-connected source" claiming that the Avalanche have made a offer for Jets forward Kyle Connor with 2019 4th overall pick defenseman Bo Byram being the main piece going to Winnipeg from the Avalanche.

It would take more than Byram for the Jets to part with Kyle Connor. Connor currently leads Winnipeg with 25 goals on the season. The Colorado Avalanche would have to include a roster player and another top prospect to even temp the Jets into making a move. The Av's would have to offer defenseman Sam Girard, 2018 first round pick forward Martin Kaut along with Bo Byram and even that may not be enough for Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff to part with his top goal scorer. Girard signed a 7-year $5 million extension with the Avalanche that kicks in next year and Byram would be on his entry-level contract, so the Jets could get two quality young defensemen that could be the backbone of the defense in Winnipeg for years to come.

Trading Kyle Connor would take an offer that the Jets could not refuse, would this be enough?
