Rumor: Islanders and Senators talking big trade

The New York Islanders are preparing for a playoff push and have turned their attention to adding from the Ottawa Senators. The deal could help shape the trade market over the next few weeks, as both GM's are looking to pull the trigger sooner than later.

The deal is rumored to be:

To the Islanders: Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Ron Hainsey

To the Senators: 2020 conditional 2nd-rounder, conditional 2021 3rd-rounder and prospect Kieffer Bellows

Lou Lamoriello would love to add Hainsey to mentor his D and provide some veteran wisdom, meanwhile JG Pageau will be a tough get out of Ottawa as the team has thought about making him a part of the solution. He's scoring ability and willingness to muck it up, makes him an attractive piece for playoff teams.

The condition on the picks are if the players re-sign in New York. The 2nd would go to a 1st if Pageau resigns.

Keep an eye on these two teams are they head in opposite direction this spring.
