Rumor: Joe Thornton to sign with another team

Joe Thornton didn't get his wish and get dealt from San Jose at the deadline and according to industry experts, his relationship with San Jose will never be the same. Expect Joe to sign elsewhere come July 1st, and the early favorite may surprise you.

According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, he sees the Toronto Maple Leafs as the favorite to sign Joe Thornton on July 1st. Friedman went on to mention not only will the low-risk high-reward short termed contract make sense for both parties, but Friedman believes the Sault St Marie connection between Leafs GM, Kyle Dubas and Thornton will play a factor in the decision.

If Thornton is not sold on the Sharks, and he's willing to seek out new life, my prediction is Toronto will be a factor. I can't confirm this, but I believe the Maple Leafs considered adding him now - Elliotte Friedman, Sportsnet

Keep an eye on Jumbo as come July 1st, he will be freed from the Shark tank and able to grant on his own wishes.
