Rumor: Steve Yzerman To Sign Elite Goaltender

Robin Lehner is set to become a UFA on July 1st, and he's hoping for a big pay day. He was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights from the Chicago Blackhawks at the trade deadline, but its unlikely that he will sign with them during the offseason.

The Detroit Red Wings are on pace to become the worst team of this century. Longtime goaltender, Jimmy Howard, is 35 years old and has had an abysmal record of 2-23-2 this season. It is safe to assume that he will not be a member of the team next season.

Instead, GM Steve Yzerman is reportedly interested in signing Robin Lehner to a significant deal that would allow the Red Wings to speed up their rebuild.
Looking at the market, Lehner seems like the perfect get for the Red Wings, who could create an exceptional tandem between Bernier and Lehner. - Tyler Kotila of                 "Detroit Jock City"
