Junior League Team To Change Name & Logo

The owners of the Saanich Junior Braves of the Vancouver Island Junior League have announced that they will be changing the name and logo of the team out of respect for Indigenous communities.

Their team's name and logo have been used since 1967. The owners have stated the reason for the changes.
"The name is not respectful to our First Nations and does not reflect the valued relationships we hold with local First Nations communities or with our First Nations players."
"We feel like we want to be leaders rather than followers."
The team will go by the Saanich Junior B team until they have selected a new name and logo.
