Rumor: Taylor Hall to receive offers from 5 contending teams

Taylor Hall isn't sure what this upcoming off season will bring. With one of the wildest seasons in NHL history, and news of a flat salary cap for the next few years, Hall and his agent are preparing for every type of scenario. With this in mind, it's being speculated Hall is only looking to sign with Cup contenders, and according to TSN's Craig Button, he thinks the Avalanche could be at the top of the list.
"The Colorado Avalanche," said Button as per TSN. "Go Cup chasing. Why do I say that? Do what Marian Hossa did in the summer of 2008. He signed a one year deal with the Detroit Red Wings and although they lost in the Stanley Cup Final it really established Marian Hossa as a key player on an important team."
The Avalanche certainly have room for Hall, because of the team friendly contract of superstar Nathan MacKinnon and having Cale Makar still on his entry-level deal doesn't hurt. Along with the Avalanche, one NHL executive told NHLTR there's a few other teams to look out for:
I think the Avs for sure and you can't rule out his hometown Flames. They have question marks on their back-end in Calgary but Hall could be there for them. Playing the Oilers more would motivate Hall, so they make a ton of sense. Out east, circle the Carolina Hurricanes who could make room for Hall, the New York Islanders to be reunited with Jordan Eberle, and a dark horse would be the Penguins. This whole #1 draft pick could play into the decision if a 'contender' gets upset in the first round and wins the lottery.
This NHL season has been like no other, and the upcoming off season is expected to follow suit. Taylor Hall is the biggest fish in the pond and after Hall, there is a huge drop off when it comes to free agent forwards. Could you imagine whoever drafts Alexis Lafreniere at #1 also signs Taylor Hall.....Habs' fans certainly hope that's the case.
