Mikko Koivu has played his last game in Minnesota

Minnesota Wild GM, Bill Guerin was as open and honest as ever with this recent media availability and there are some huge changes on store for the Wild's roster. After another year of disappointment and a team that doesn't have much going for them, Bill Guerin is letting everyone know the team is open for business.
Turns out it may all start with their long-time captain, Mikko Koivu, who is not expected back with the team. While Koivu didn't want to speak on his playing future, his contract is up with the Wild and the team will be moving on.

The 37-year-old is expected to either sign a one year deal with a contending team, or sign a deal back in Finland and essentially wrap up his playing days with some old buddies.

Either way it's been a hell of a run for Koivu, and he's a huge part of hockey in Minnesota and that should not be forgotten. 6th overall pick 19 years ago, over 1000 games, over 700 points, a great career which could be coming to an end.
