Rumor: LA Kings pushing hard for Sabres' Jack Eichel

The LA Kings find themselves in an interesting spot. They are 'rebuilding' with a core that's been capable of winning championships. The timeline of their rebuild is something their management team continues to internally discuss, and it appears they could be fast tracking their plans...and soon.

According to source close to Kings operations, GM Rob Blake and his team have made calls to the Buffalo Sabres to inquire about their captain, Jack Eichel.

The Kings have 6 picks in the first three rounds of the draft and are willing to include at least the #2 overall pick and one other to make the deal happen. It's believed prospect Gabriel Vilardi would also be included in the deal as he's been on Buffalo's radar since 2017 when they went back and forth on him or Casey Mittelstadt.

The Kings would love to include Jeff Carter in the deal, but as expected, the rebuilding Sabres aren't interested in the 35-year-old with two years left on his deal paying him $5.2 million.

New to the job, Sabres GM Kevyn Adams appears reluctant to come in and make a franchise changing trade and you can't really blame him for that. Doesn't mean it can't happen, however, it doesn't appear likely at this point. The Kings will have to blow the Sabres away to acquire Eichel.

Would you make this deal?

To the Kings - Jack Eichel

To the Sabres - Jeff Carter, Gabriel Vilardi, #2 overall pick and a 2020 2nd round pick
