Rumor: Nashville and Toronto are discussing a deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Nashville Predators are turning into the perfect trade partners as both clubs are looking to make some drastic changes this off season. For the Leafs they need to find more grit and toughness and for the Preds, they need to find more offense and a consistent work ethic.

NHLTR is being told the two teams have been in contact with each other and are discussing a few different names:

Leafs and Preds fit each other nicely. Leafs have asked about Austin Watson, who plays a style of game they need and they have been offering Jeremy Bracco or Freddy Gauthier. Belief is the Preds want Pierre Engvall and the Leafs won't budge at this point.

Watson is 28, plays a mean game, and is getting a boost on his new extension to $1.5 million per, with 3 years left. He's versatile and physical which is music to the ears of Leafs Nation.

For the Preds, they may not have interest in Frederick Gauthier who is towering, just not as physical as some would come to expect. More of a gentle giant, so perhaps a top-end prospect like Bracco who may be capable of scoring in the NHL would be of more interest.

Keep an eye on these two teams as we creep closer to the draft. They could pull off a deal and get a jump on the market.
