Winnipeg Jets shopping some big names!

The Winnipeg Jets were dealt some terrible cards in the Bubble of this year's playoffs, as the team was decimated with injuries. With Blake Wheeler, Connor Hellebuyck and Mark Scheifele leading their charge, the Jets have begun to hold some trade discussions with other teams, and it may surprise you on who this chatter surrounds.

Talks appear focused around Patrik Laine and Nik Ehlers to gauge their market value. The Jets have needs on defense and down the middle of their lineup, with Bryan Little not expected back next season. The team is willing to deal from their strength on the wing to make it happen, the only problem is, what's the point of filling a hole if you're just going to make a bigger hole somewhere else.?

Ehlers is signed for the next 5 seasons at $6 million, meanwhile,  Laine only has next year left on his deal then he becomes a restricted free-agent. The Jets aren't sure what they are willing to commit to the Finnish sniper at this time, hence the market research. Giving up a prolific goal scorer may not be smart business.

Keep tabs on the Jets over the course of the next few weeks leading up to the draft. The team wants another center and some defensemen to plug and play next year. They just may have to give up some big pieces to make it happen.
