Rumor: Corey Perry Close to Signing New Deal

Corey Perry is a free-agent and last year, after being bought out by the Anaheim Ducks, Perry landed on his feet with the Dallas Stars. This year Perry is mulling over a few options at this point and has been taking his time to see how the market plays out.

The 35-year-old will be in line for another cheap one-year contract, and here are three teams that have interest, as those close to Perry have mentioned to NHLTR, he's closing in on signing another one-year deal.

Nashville Predators

Nashville has shown interest in Perry and reached out early in the process to let him know. While the Preds still have some cap space to use up on some bigger fish, Perry remains on their radar and could be a good fit for the veteran.

Colorado Avalanche

Perry has made over $80 million dollars in his career, so it's not about the money at this point, even though the Avalanche have a lot to spend. His relationship with Joe Sakic could go a long way here, and he could be seen as a perfect veteran piece for their bottom-six forwards. While his 21 points don't stand out to you, his 145 playoff games should, and the Avs could use this experience.

Dallas Stars

The team hasn't closed the door on Perry just yet, as they sit with over $6 million in cap space and only 3 spots open on their NHL roster. Perry scored some big goals for the Stars during their playoff run, and it appeared the team had a ton of chemistry, which was vital for playing in the bubble. Another one-year deal at $700,000 is what could end of being signed off on.

A couple of wildcard teams to consider are the Edmonton Oilers and Ottawa Senators. The Oilers are in need of some veteran leadership and net-front presence, while the Senators would be close to family for Perry. One thing we do know, Corey Perry is planning on playing next season, and his next contract should be signed sometime soon.
