New Development in Pierre-Luc Dubois Trade Demands

Recently it was made public knowledge that Columbus Blue Jackets young star Pierre-Luc Dubois wanted out of Columbus after he signed a two-year extension with the team. Turns out the team learned about his requests long before the news dropped.

According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the team was made aware of Dubois' request early on in the offseason and the team was extremely worried about an offer sheet being presented to the restricted free agent. It the Jackets didn't match the contract, they would have been stuck with a package of draft picks instead of NHL ready players like they are going to demand in any deal.

Dubois hasn't hid from the fact he wants out and head coach John Tortorella hasn't been afraid to share the fact he's going to tackle this head on, out in the open, and he admitted his focus is on the development of players who want to be there.

The situation couldn't be more awkward for Dubois and his teammates, however he plans on being a professional, working hard every day to get better on and off the ice and he's letting the management team and his agent handle all the behind the scenes work.

Can't blame him for that as he tries to build off an outstanding playoffs where he tallied 19 points in 26 games. There's rumblings about a deal for Patrik Laine and there's talk about a move to Minnesota. We'll have to wait and see how it unfolds but one things for sure, Dubois is on the trade market!
