Vancouver Canucks Make Surprising Roster Moves!

The Vancouver Canucks have made some surprising roster moves ahead of this week's season opener. The team has put six players on waivers including  forwards Sven Baertschi and Loui Eriksson.

Eriksson comes as a bit of a surprise as the team has second guessed themselves ever since signing him to a massive extension several years ago. The 35-year-old has two years left on his deal at $6 million per season. Last season Eriksson appeared in 49 games, chipping in with 13 points. He also appeared in 10 playoff games, recording no points.

For Baertschi, the 28-year-old is in the final year of his deal that pays him $3.36 million this season. Last year he appeared in six games with the team, recording two points and was originally thought of to be apart of the team's top-9 forwards this year considering who the team lost to free-agency. That's obviously not the case after he's struggled in training camp.

More to come as the team solidifies their roster for opening night.
