NY Rangers Closing In On Tony DeAngelo Trade

The Tony DeAngelo bidding war is apparently going off as the New York Rangers are fielding a tremendous amount of interest from other teams, this according to TSN's Darren Dreger.

The interest has taken some by surprise considering all of DeAngelo's antics and the fact he pissed off his goaltender enough to get punched in the face. But, when you can contribute 50 plus points as a defenseman, are 25-years-old and make under $5 million this season and next, general managers think they can be the change DeAngelo needs to see.

While the team's interested has yet to leak, it sounds like the Nashville Predators, New Jersey Devils and Calgary Flames have some level of interest. One funny random note is the fact DeAngelo's last junior coach who apparently had a great relationship with him....Maple Leafs head coach, Sheldon Keefe.

The former first round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning has recorded 106 points in 206 games and certainly has the skillset to be productive on the ice. It's all the off-ice distractions that come with DeAngelo that make him a flight risk for any team.

Regardless, there's trade interest and the Rangers have made it known, they aren't wasting any time. You can bet DeAngelo won't be a Ranger come the weekend.
