Video: McDavid & Draisaitl Combine for 11 Points vs Senators!!

What is this, the 80's? Edmonton Oilers forwards Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl put on an absolute show on Sunday night as the Oilers defeated the Ottawa Senators 8-5.

The high-scoring affair was led by the two Oilers superstars who with five points by McDavid and six by Draisaitl, the two combined for a whopping 11 points! Reminding Oilers fans of nights when they'd watch #99 and #17 playing together back in the day.

Game notes via Sportsnet Stats:

Draisaitl had a whopping six assists, falling one shy of tying the single-game record set on numerous occasions by Wayne Gretzky. The reigning MVP became the 29th player in league history to accomplish the feat and the first since Hall of Famer Eric Lindros in 1997. Draisaitl is also the only player in NHL history to record six assists through the first two periods of a game.

McDavid chipped in with a goal and four assists and these two, who led the league last season in scoring, are now all alone holding the 1st and 2nd spots league wide.

Looks like the Art Ross is going to be another two-headed race this season. Let's just hope for their sake the team can improve on their 5-6 record.

Here's the history you missed from Sunday night:
