3 Calgary Flames Most Likely to be Traded

The Calgary Flames have been through a lot this season and it appears that won't be changing anytime soon. On Wednesday night the team lost to the dismal Ottawa Senators again and it's basically taken them out of playoff contention. With the disappointment comes changes and since the coach has already been changed, expect to see some players shipped out of town.

Here's 3 Flames who are most likely to be dealt before the trade deadline:

Sam Bennett, LW

The new coaching change was supposed to be a big deal for Bennett in Calgary but he's recorded zero points in his last seven games and is a minus five. The trade speculation started early this season for Bennett and it's never gone away. The team even gave him a choice between center and wing before the season started and he ended up changing his mind after the first few games. At 24-years-old and a restricted free-agent next season there's going to be interest on taking a flyer on him. Expect to see Bennett finally moved before the 12th of April.

David Rittich, G

The 28-year-old netminder is drawing a ton of interest on the trade market as he's headed for unrestricted free-agency in the summer. With Jacob Markstrom settled in as the #1 goalie for the future in Calgary it would make sense for teams to call on Rittich. In 12 games this season, 'Big Save Dave' has been solid with a 2.86 GAA. Teams that have called Calgary include the Washington Capitals, Colorado Avalanche and the Edmonton Oilers.

Derek Ryan, C/RW

The 34-year-old veteran isn't anything flashy but he could contribute to a team's bottom-six group. The pending free-agent would be a rental the Flames would need to retain money on, but there's already been interest. So far this season, Ryan has recorded six points in 21 games and is one of the only players on the Flames who is a 'plus' player. Any deal for Ryan wouldn't be a blockbuster but he could help a contender kill penalties and win faceoffs.
