Anaheim Ducks Shopping Several Key Players

The Anaheim Ducks were 1 of 7 teams who did not make the summer bubble playoffs and their chances of making the playoffs this season continue to slowly pull away. Although their prospect pool is promising, it appears their rebuilding process will include trading away several key players.

Eric Stephens of The Athletic has provided details on the Ducks players who are expected to be dealt by the trade deadline.

A high ranking NHL executive told The Athletic that there would be interest in players like Henrique and others - think Jakob Silfverberg, Cam Fowler, and Ryan Getzlaf - but the Ducks may have problems moving them unless they retain some salary.

Adam Henrique was placed on waivers last month and was not claimed. He has 3 years remaining at $5.8 million and the Ducks would likely need to retain 50% in order to make a move. Ryan Getzlaf's cap hit of $8.25 million is not easily digestible for contending teams, plus its unclear whether he is willing to waive his no trade clause.

Stephens states that Hampus Lindholm and Rickard Rakell are the most likely trade bait for the trade deadline. Their relative youth, performance, and term / salary friendly contract will certainly attract some attention.
