Curtis Lazar Literally Flips Scott Laughton On His Head: No Call On The Play

NHL referees have taken heat as of late for costly penalty calls on innocent players, wrongly affirming or denying goals, and not calling penalties on dirty hits. The most recent includes Curtis Lazar of the Buffalo Sabres who flipped Scott Laughton of the Philadelphia Flyers directly onto his head.

There's a difference between 'letting the boys play' and not calling blatant infractions. Although Lazar did not appear to have ill intent, he tripped Laughton off the draw and flipped him directly onto his head. He stayed on the ice for a short period of time, but it was a scary looking play. Laughton did eventually return to the Flyers bench, but this could have easily resulted with a career threatening injury.
