Philadelphia Flyers Fans Harass Referees After Horrible Penalty Call

Fans are back in the building, ladies and gentleman. They're yelling "shoot" whenever a home player touches the puck on the power play and they're harassing the referees. The refs made a poor call during the Washington Capitals - Philadelphia Flyers matchup and Flyers fans let them know exactly how they feel about it.

Philadelphia sports fans have a reputation for being rowdy. They didn't beat on anyone, but they chanted "ref you suck" without relent during their first game back in the building. Flyers forward Travis Konecny was called for goaltender interference with 4 minutes to go in the first period. Once the "interference" was shown on the big screen, the fans let the refs have it.

The replay indicated that Konecny did not run the goaltender. In fact, he made every attempt to avoid the goaltender. Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetzov initiated contact with Konecny, causing him to bump into the Capitals' netminder. He was also shoved by Capitals defensemen John Carlson which forced him into the goaltender.

The Flyers were enraged with the call, evidenced by Coach Alain Vigneault's fit on the bench. Despite only a limited number of fans in the building, the chant of 'ref you suck' seemed to eclipse the sound of 20,000 angry fans. Even the broadcast team acknowledged the bad call, calling it the "Wes McCauley Special."
