Mattias Ekholm Speaks Out About Trade Rumors

Mattias Ekholm has been the centre of trade rumors for the past few months. The rumors are strong enough to believe that an Ekholm trade isn't an if, it's a when. He has addressed these trade rumors with Adam Vingan of The Athletic.

Ekholm has been ranked as the No. 1 fish on the trade market before the April 18th deadline. He is a more than capable top-4 defenceman who is severely underpaid at $3.75 million. Most teams can afford to add him to their roster without giving up a core player.

However, in the age of social media, players can not hide from the media attention, positive or negative. Ekholm is not oblivious to the fact he is likely to be on the way out of Nashville.
I don't try to focus on it too much. I try to focus on my game. I have two kids at home. I don't have too much time to worry about it.

With that being said, I understand that part of t. I read some of it, trying not to read a whole lot of it, because, I mean, nobody knows anything right now. I know that in my time in Nashville, I've been very fortunate to maybe not be in those conversations, as far as I know. But now, when I guess our team is doing bad, we understand nobody's happy, and neither am I with the way we've played so far. So with that comes decisions for management, and that's just a part of it. There not much I can worry when it comes to that.

Playoff contending teams are salivating at the thought of adding Ekholm to their back end. He plays a ton of minutes and has the reputation as a shutdown player who happens to have great offensive skill and IQ. Expect Ekholm to be in a different uniform come April.
