Rumor: Kings to Trade Dustin Brown to the Islanders

According to Elliotte Friedman he sees the New York Islanders as a contender to trade for Los Angeles Kings veteran Dustin Brown.

The Islanders now have $7 million in cap space to spend since putting Anders Lee on LTIR and there's no doubt Islanders management is going to make a move and use the money. The team is one of the best defensively in the league and will be looking for a combination of forwards to join their group.

As for Brown, he's got some serious ties to the area and would provide the Isles with a some physicality, leadership, playoff experience and the odd goal. The 36-year-old has appeared in 30 games this season and has found his form as he's recorded 14 goals and 21 points.

Brown does have a modified no-trade clause so he submits a list of seven teams to management before the season. From all accounts it appears the Islanders are one team that he's ok moving from California too.

Here's what Friedman had to say about this move:

Lou Lamoriello stealth watch: Dustin Brown. You know the Islanders GM wants to find someone no one has thought of. He’s a righty (injured captain Anders Lee is a lefty), but there are a lot of similarities. Goes to the front of the net, power-play threat.
