Blue Jackets Scratch David Savard, Trade Upcoming

The Columbus Blue Jackets are protecting their asset as the team has decided to scratch defenseman David Savard Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The ironic part here is the Lightning are considered favorites to land Savard according to insider Elliotte Friedman. He's become Columbus' most sought-after trade piece and the pending free-agent has generated a ton of interest across the league.

So far this season, the 30-year-old d-man has recorded six points in 40 games and while the numbers don't jump off the page, Savard is as solid as they come, is right-handed and can play big minutes in the playoffs.

Columbus Will Be Busy

Savard isn't the only Blue Jacket likely to be moved, earlier today we shared the news that captain Nick Foligno is open to a move if it's a situation he feels comfortable with. The Blue Jackets appear to be headed for a crossroads and will be turning their attention to the future this trade deadline.
