Flyers Forward Generating Ton of Trade Interest

The Philadelphia Flyers are currently in 6th place in the East division and appear to be on their way to missing the playoffs. The team is five points back of the 4th place Boston Bruins, however the Bruins have two games in hand. The math isn't in their favor, and there's a sense the team could be active before the trade deadline. One name to watch out for is forward Scott Laughton.

Laughton is generating a ton of trade interest as teams have called the Flyers asking what it's going to take to acquire the 26-year-old pending free-agent. Laughton is making $2.3 million on the cap this season and in 35 games has 17 points. He also happens to be a great defensive center who can play a shutdown role, which is something a number of playoff bound teams are interested in.

Teams to watch here include the Pittsburgh Penguins, Colorado Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leafs as all three teams could benefit from Laughton in their lineup. If he does get moved, it's going to be bittersweet for Laughton who loves being a Flyer more than anyone.

Unfortunately the NHL is a tough business sometimes and Laughton could be finding that out before 3pm eastern on Monday.
