Rumor: Philadelphia Flyers Looking for a Summer Blockbuster Trade

The Philadelphia Flyers sold off a couple of assets at this season's trade deadline but come the summer time, the team is expected to add some serious new talent. According to Jordan Hall of NBC Philadelphia, general manager Chuck Fletcher is interested in trading for a top-pair defenseman that has game-changing skills.

With a flat salary cap trades are going to be the best way to land some fresh talent and there's expected to be a number of defensemen available via trade. And in order to get talent you need to give up some and the Flyers do have some players they can move. The likes of James van Riemsdyk, Sean Couturier and Jakub Voracek could all be dangled to see what league wide interest is like and another name to watch is Travis Konecny

Meanwhile Kevin Hayes and Claude Giroux have no-movement clauses so don't expect to see either of them traded.

The Flyers will have their minds on a defenseman but if you look at their roster they may need to acquire another goaltender as well. One time top-prospect Carter Hart has struggled this season and if you don't have stability in the crease, it doesn't matter how many #1 defensemen you have, it's not going to matter.

Interesting times to be a Flyers fan.
