Montreal Canadiens Dealt Surprise Injury News

The Montreal Canadiens battled it out with the Winnipeg Jets on Friday night and did so without defenseman Shea Weber in the lineup. Weber was a late scratch as he's apparently dealing with an upper-body injury.

Defenseman Erik Gustafsson replaced Weber in the Habs lineup as it was the first game of the season the Canadiens captain missed. So far this season the 35-year-old has recorded six goals and 13 assists in the 48 games he's played in. He's the pillar on Montreal's blue line as Weber averages 22:42 of ice-time a night and the team needs him healthy and at the top of his game for the playoffs.

The game on Friday without Weber was a back and forth affair as the Jets got out to a two-goal lead and ended up losing to the Canadiens 5-3.
