Montreal Canadiens Provide Update on Status of Shea Weber

Some photos surfaced earlier this week of Montreal Canadiens captain Shea Weber and surprisingly the defenseman was wearing a splint on his left thumb. Habs head coach Dominique Ducharme told reporters this weekend that he's very confident Weber plays game one of the playoffs on Thursday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The defenseman missed the final eight games of the season with what the team was calling an upper-body injury.

If the Canadiens want to have any chance of defeating the Leafs they need Weber in the lineup and at the top of his game. The underdog Canadiens are in an uphill battle and will need absolutely everyone producing.

Weber was a full participant in Saturday's practice and so were Brendan Gallagher and Phillip Danault. Both players were sidelined with injuries to finish off the regular season. As for Weber, he scored six times and added 13 assists in 48 games this season.

Leafs and Canadiens kicks off Thursday at 7pm. First time in over 40 years the two franchises face off i the playoffs.
