Rumor: Calgary Flames to offer huge package for Jack Eichel

Today is the last day of the 2021 NHL season and their are many disappointed teams heading into the last day of the season. The Calgary Flames and Buffalo Sabres would have to be near the top of the list for underachieving clubs this season, both teams spent big in free agency with little to show for it results wise. There will no doubt be changes to the core of both teams, can the Flames and Sabres help each other and complete a blockbuster deal at the same time?

Jack Eichel rumors have been rampant all season and it appears there may be no mending the relationship between the Sabres and Eichel. John Vogl of the Athletic wrote that the expectation is that Buffalo will receive a kings ransom for captain Jack. Vogl suggests the Calgary Flames would offer a package of: Matt Tkachuk, Connor Zary and a 1st round pick. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman also reported that the Flames and Sabres were discussing a possible Sam Reinhart trade as well. Calgary GM Brad Treliving has stated that he is looking to shake-up the core of his team and making this kind of deal would certainly qualify.

If Calgary covets both Reinhart and Eichel the Flames would surely have to include a center in the trade. A trade may look like this:

Buffalo- Matt Tkachuk, Elias Lindholm, Connor Zary and 1st round pick                                             Calgary- Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart

Jack Eichel's time as a Sabre appears to be over, will the superstar end up leading the Flames in the battle of Alberta against rival Connor McDavid and the Oilers? How much fun would that be to watch??
