NHL Announces Finalists for Norris Trophy

On Wednesday, the NHL announced the finalists for the Norris Trophy for the league's top defenseman and the list included Tampa Bay Lightning's Victor Hedman, Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche and Adam Fox of the New York Rangers.

It's the same ol' story for Hedman who has now been named a finalists for the fifth consecutive season, the longest streak since Niklas Lidstrom's six-year run back in the early 2000's. Kudos to the Lightning's defender as he played through a ton of injuries and just being named into the final group is quite the accomplishment. Hedman tallied 45 points in 54 games this season.

Makar is going to win many of these awards as the Avs star is blossoming right in front of our eyes. He's a threat on both sides of the puck on a nightly basis and even missed 12 games this season due to injury, while still receiving enough votes for the nod. He registered 44 points and finished with the best point per game ratio of any defenseman.

Fox of the Rangers is certainly the most underrated defenseman in the league and certainly does not get the attention he deserves. In his second season in the show, he recorded 47 points in 55 games and while he was on the ice during five on five play, the Rangers scored 57.5% of the goals.

Who's your pick, let us know in the comments.
