Trade Rumor: Buffalo Received Offer from Columbus for Jack Eichel

The Jack Eichel sweepstakes are full steam at the moment as Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams is talking trade with several teams. Rumor has the Columbus Blue Jackets being heavily interested in acquiring Eichel and have reportedly let the Sabres know they are willing to pay a steep price.

The Blue Jackets hold three first-round picks at this summer's draft and are willing to give up their two late picks, who belong to the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning. It's likely the Sabres are looking for a top-10 pick for Eichel and want the Jackets' fifth overall selection in the deal.

The Blue Jackets also have 21-year-old prospect Liam Foudy who the Sabres are extremely high on and would want included in the deal. It's certainly going to be tough for the team to walk away from one of their top prospects, but if they want to acquire a 24-year-old center in the prime of his career, these are the type of assets you need to give up.

The good news for the Sabres is they have full control when it comes to the Eichel trade as the player's no-trade protection doesn't kick in until after next season. Eichel will then have a full no-movement clause, so you can bet your bottom dollar he gets moved this summer and Columbus is one of the teams who are interested and just may have the assets to get a deal done.
