Video: Auston Matthews Laughs Off Mitch Marner Trade Rumors

The Toronto Maple Leafs know the media surrounding the team can be a bit much sometimes and it's reaching peak status after another early playoff exit. On Wednesday Auston Matthews met with the media and someone suggested trading Mitch Marner. To no surprise, Matthew shook his head and couldn't believe the spoken words.

Matthews and Marner were both unbelievable during the regular season but couldn't get anything going against the Montreal Canadiens as their shut-down line led by Phillip Danault did wonders for the Habs. Marner now hasn't scored in the past two playoff rounds and Matthews has only tallied three goals in his last 12 playoff games.

While there's going to be changes to the Maple Leafs roster, Matthews and Marner aren't going anywhere. Leafs Nation is up in arms, as to be expected, but the noise surrounding trading Marner is bogus. It's fake outrage with no place to land and there's a reason the players delete social media apps before the playoffs.

The Leafs aren't going to panic, they are going to re-tool, adjust some tactics, and look for ways to be more consistent when it matters most next season. As for all of Leafs Nation that wants Marner off the team, his buddy Matthews will laugh in your face.
