2 Teams Who Should Trade for Rickard Rakell

Frank Seravalli's trade target list has big names on it like Jack Eichel, Seth Jones and Evgeny Kuznetsov. Yet, another interesting player on it is Anaheim Ducks forward, Rickard Rakell. With the Ducks rebuilding and Rakell having only one more year left on his contract, trading him makes sense. They need to continue to strengthen their prospect pool and trading Rakell certainly would bring in a decent return.

With 28 points in 52 games this season, it is fair to state that Rakell had a down year. However, he was playing on a Ducks team that had significant trouble producing offense. Rakell did have a 69 point season during the 2017-18 season, so he is capable of being a real threat. If he joins a team with a strong cast of forwards, he could very well get back to those totals.

These two teams should try to acquire him.

Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers could be the perfect fit for Rakell. He certainly would have a real shot getting back to his previous offensive totals. as he would be playing with Connor McDavid. They also are particularly weak at right wing, so Rakell would be a serious upgrade to the position. Rakell also has just under a $3.8 million cap hit, so it is easily affordable for the Oilers. With Caleb Jones likely being Seattle bound, maybe he could be the starting piece going back to Anaheim in a deal. It would be better than losing him for nothing to the Expansion Draft.

Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers may be making changes with their forwards this summer. They are looking to move Jakub Voracek and his large cap hit. Nolan Patrick also wants a change of scenery, so he likely will be on the move. Rakell comes at a far cheaper price than Voracek and is capable of producing at a similar rate. The rebuilding Ducks may not be interested in a veteran like Voracek, but they should be with Patrick. He is still just 22-years-old and has room for growth.
