2 Teams Who Should Trade For Underrated Forward Warren Foegele

Warren Foegele will likely be on a new team next season. The RFA reportedly wants out of Carolina, so a trade will likely be occurring this summer.

Foegele is a very underrated player who should be getting far more attention. He can contribute fairly well offensively, as evidenced by his 10 goals and 20 points in 53 games this season. The 25-year-old is a very serviceable middle-six winger, as he also plays with a lot of physicality. Given the fact that it is known that he wants out, the Hurricanes may be willing to take back less for him, too.

These two teams should consider trading for him.

Detroit Red Wings: Part of the reason that Foegele wants to play elsewhere is to have a bigger role. The Red Wings would certainly offer him that chance, as they are a rebuilding team that are particularly weak with their wingers. Foegele would instantly be a fit on their second-line and could be used as a net-front presence on the power play. Furthermore, the Red Wings need a player who plays with some tenacity to help spark them.

Pittsburgh Penguins: The Pittsburgh Penguins need to shake-up their forwards a bit after another first round playoff exit. Foegele is a player who will not command too much money, so they could make a deal work. It would also be intriguing to see how he would do playing with such strong offensive talent. His point totals would likely go up on a line with either Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin centering him. Wingers like him seem to thrive in Pittsburgh because of this, so perhaps there is a match here.
