3 Underrated Players The Seattle Kraken Should Take From The Atlantic Division

The Atlantic Division offers some pretty interesting players for the Kraken. The Tampa Bay Lightning have four big-name forwards to choose from, which is exciting for the Kraken. Alex Kerfoot and newly-acquired Jared McCann are also available from the Maple Leafs. Oh, and how could we forget about the Canadiens leaving Carey Price exposed?

Yet, there are also a handful of underrated players from this division who could be fine acquisitions, too.

Here are three that come to mind.

Chris Tierney (Ottawa Senators): Chris Tierney struggled this season with the Senators, but could still be a very solid third-line center for the Kraken. In 55 games, he only had six goals and 19 points. Yet, he is only two years removed from a 48-point campaign. When Tierney is on his game, he can be a real offensive threat. He also is well-known for his strong defensive play and success at faceoffs. With one year left on his contract, there is not much risk taking him.

Troy Stetcher (Detroit Red Wings): The Kraken would be wise to select right-handed defenseman, Troy Stetcher. In 44 games with the Red Wings this season, he had three goals and 11 points. His cap hit is particularly alluring, as it only is at $1.7 million. That is a good price for a reliable bottom-pairing defenseman who can chip in well offensively.

Nick Ritchie (Boston Bruins): Many people envision the Kraken taking defenseman Jeremy Lauzon, but Nick Ritchie would be a solid pick, too. In 56 games this season, the 25-year-old left winger scored a career-high 15 goals and recorded 26 points in total. He could be interesting option because of his strong physical play. The Kraken may want some sandpaper in their lineup and Ritchie certainly provides a lot of that.
