New York Islanders Interested In These Two Veteran UFAs

The New York Islanders are interested in free agents Ryan Suter and Zach Parise, according to Larry Brooks. The pair were recently bought out by the Minnesota Wild.

It is not too surprising that this is the case. The Islanders just recently traded defenseman Nick Leddy to the Detroit Red Wings and are in need of a left-handed replacement. The Isles also were close to trading for Parise a few seasons ago at the trade deadline. Keep in mind, they also lost Jordan Eberle to the Seattle Kraken and Parise could help heal that wound a bit.

In 56 games this season, Suter still played top-pairing minutes and recorded 19 points. Although his offensive contributions were lower, he still was reliable defensively. Parise did have his struggles this season, as he would only score seven goals and produce 18 points in 45 games. However, he could be a nice option for the middle-six and did have 46 points in 69 games the season before.

Although they are out of their primes, they two could still be good additions for them. This is especially the case if they are signed to cheap contracts. It would not be too surprising if they each decide to sign with the same team yet again, as they played many seasons together in Minnesota.

We will see what occurs on this front next week. It sure would be interesting to see them in Islanders' jerseys next season.
