Rumor: Anton Khudobin to Edmonton Oilers

Throughout his career as a GM in the NHL, Ken Holland has built a reputation of placing high importance on veteran leadership on his teams. Holland has added Duncan Keith, Derek Ryan, Codi Ceci to the Oilers roster this off season. Holland has also re-signed 39 year old goaltender Mike Smith to a two year extension with a cap hit of $2.2M. It now appears the Oilers GM may be looking to add another veteran goalie via the Dallas Stars.

According to the Edmonton Journal several NHL sources predict the Dallas Stars will try and move Anton Khudobin, after signing former Stanley Cup winning goalie Brayden Holtby in free agency to go along with promising 22 year old Jake Oettinger who is entering the last year of his entry-level deal. Oettinger appeared in 29 games last year and put up an impressive .911 save percentage.

The Stars would not be interested in Oilers goaltender Mikko Koskinen and would probably look for someone like Zack Kassian, who has been rumored to be on the move out of oil country for some time now. Many fans in Edmonton would like to see a change in the pipes for the Oilers, despite above average numbers in recent seasons, the feeling in Edmonton is they need an upgrade in goal if they hope to compete with the top teams in the Western Conference.
