Alex Galchenyuk Signs PTO With Arizona Coyotes

Alex Galchenyuk has signed a professional tryout contract with the Arizona Coyotes.

Galchenyuk previously played the 2018-19 season with the Coyotes after being traded by the Montreal Canadiens for Max Domi. In 72 games with the team, he scored 19 goals and recorded 41 points. Since that lone season in Arizona, Galchenyuk has played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs over two seasons. Thus, it's safe to say he's had a hard time finding a permanent home.

In Ottawa this past season, he played just eight games for the organization and had an assist. This led to him being put on waivers and the Leafs then claimed him. In Toronto, he somewhat found his previous offensive touch, as he scored four goals and had 12 points in 26 games. This kind of production is what makes it weird that he was unable to land himself a contract for the season yet.

However, if he has a strong camp, he has a good shot of being signed by the Coyotes. Arizona is beginning another rebuild and have already traded a bunch of their key players. This could be a great opportunity for the 27-year-old forward to shine again, as he could compete for a top-six role.
