Alex Galchenyuk Signs One-Year Deal

Alex Galchenyuk played his ass off during the preseason and the Arizona Coyotes noticed. The travelled forward has turned his professional tryout into a one-year contract worth $750,000.

It's Galchenyuk's second go around in the desert as he landed there via Pittsburgh when the Penguins dealt him for Phil Kessel. Last season Galchenyuk started the season with the Ottawa Senators, was acquired by the Carolina Hurricanes and never played a game, ending up with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Galchenyuk found his game with the Maple Leafs, recording 12 points in 26 games and four points in six postseason games. This momentum and newfound work ethic certainly put him on the radar for NHL clubs heading into this season.

The Coyotes are going younger and want to give a lot of their prospects a look, so it's a good sign the 27-year-old Galchenyuk made the team. Now he's going to need to produce to stay in the league and let's hope he can find his groove once again in the desert.
