Insider Suggests Kane/Toews Trades Could Be Coming

The Chicago Blackhawks are undergoing some interesting times for their franchise. And while the team on the ice struggles, Larry Brooks of the New York Posts suggests we may see Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane moved out sooner than we think.

The Blackhawks are off to a historically bad start this season as they have yet to even sniff a lead in their first six games. Now, all of the attention is drawn to off the ice and the findings from a third-party investigation regarding the 2010 team that's resulted in the team cleaning house. Needless to say there's a certain vibe around the team right now and we'll be curious to see how it all plays out on the ice in 2021-22.

As for deals, both players have no-movement clauses and only next season left on their contract, paying them $10.5 million annually. At this point it feels like both are extremely unlikely to be traded in-season. IF they were approached about moving, it's likely Jonathan Toews would mention Winnipeg or Minnesota as destinations on his preferred list and Kane would likely love to make way to Broadway or to the Florida Panthers.

But for now, don't expect any major deals out of the Blackhawks. If things don't get better on the ice with some results, perhaps we revisit Brooks' suggestion next summer.
